The 15th of August, 2021 was a fulfilling day for one of Cameroon’s fastest-growing gospel music groups known as Angelic Band, as they experienced the glory of The Father in a successful concert “The Light Concert“, with over 1000 people in attendance.
iJesusAfrica: Do tell us briefly about the event?
Engel: The Lord put in our hearts to organize a worship concert themed “THE LIGHT”. Which took place on the 15 August 2021 at the Yaounde 6 council compound.
THE LIGHT CONCERT was organized by the ANGELIC BAND with Ntamack Junior, Simo Merveille, Bunji Delissa, and Nsame Hanslie (Engel) as main and active organizers. We decided to take the gospel out of the Church walls and also break denominational barriers.
THE LIGHT is an inspiration gotten from 1 John 1:5 which is a revelation of who God is and speaking light out of the darkest Cameroon and its citizens are experiencing.“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” – 1 John 1:5
Engel: The event was a great success. Everything was set for the concert to begin at 2 pm but heavy rain started at 3 pm. The rain was so heavy that wind pushed down the stage screens and the stage lights were all wet and could not be used any longer.
We had to replace the stage lights and also restart the connections.
We saw the glory of God just after the rain and the hand of God kept people waiting till about 9 pm when we started the concert and ended at about 12am. It was a wonderful experience!
iJesusAfrica: Will there be a sequel to the event & Should we be looking forward to subsequent editions?
Engel: we will be coming by July next year for “THE REVIVAL FESTIVAL“. We believe it takes 40 years for a dispensational shift to happen and from 2022, there will be a move of God in the Church of Cameroon like never before.
This move of God will bring a revival! This concert is aimed at aligning the people of God for this REVIVAL
iJesusAfrica: Tell us about the participants (The Artists)
Engel: Actually, we have artists in the band like Nestor Rooy who has a number of singles on YouTube, Ema Claire who is the winner of the “Captured” challenge by Maureen Forbah, Florent Agbor Takang popularly known as (Aloga Holy pepper) a 237 gospel comedian alongside a handful of others.
iJesusAfrica: What were some of the challenges you had?
Engel: As I said earlier, the rain was the main challenge and the reason for the late start. But God was glorified at the end of it all.
iJesusAfrica: What was the feedback from the audience?
Engel: With an attendance of over 1000 people, the feedback was great. We had many people writing us about how great the event was. They continue to testify of the greatness of God which was evident and every eye-witnessed it.
The Cameroonian gospel music industry is poised to grow with numerous concerts attesting to this. Artists and Co are bravely rising up to the task of making Jesus known through music. We will love to read your feedback,
