“Valentine’s day is coming“, that is the song everyone had been singing. Of course, it has come, just like the many others that came and it will pass just as they passed. The only difference it will make is “The knowledge you will be taking home this time”.
Love is one of the most discussed topics in the world. Great minds have sort to explain the meaning and power of it but it keeps proving difficult to understand. Love often comes in different shades and when we seem to understand one aspect of it, another show’s up. Sometimes it’s a positive twist but frustration and disappointment are more reported than the actual outcome of a happily ever after.
Love is not overrated
As we walk through life, there are a lot of things we won’t understand but we must abide by these wise words “don’t dismiss what you don’t understand”. Many people claim that love is overrated these days and that there is no such thing as true love. This is certainly because the world has become very deceptive and a lot of people have been preyed by deceit from a onetime partner. Continue Reading Below!

We must understand that the world is characterized by good and evil, right and wrong, positive and negative. There are always two sides of a coin and if we don’t experience the unpleasant side it will be difficult to appreciate the good.
What does God have to say?
We know that the medium through which God communicates with us is his word and everything he says is truth.
The bible gives us the most detailed explanation we can ever have of what love is in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. The bible says “love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own…………….” this is the mirror of love and don’t be afraid to walk away from a relationship that doesn’t mirror this image.
As men or as women believing that God is all right and that his word is our only standard, we should know that there is no room for compromise. Anything that doesn’t abide by the standards that we know should be disregarded especially when it comes to the affairs of the heart.
God has given man the responsibility to love and has given the woman the responsibility to respect and
submit. It is difficult for a woman to submit to a man who doesn’t love her. This is the reason why in
choosing a partner for life; with whom you will celebrate many more valentines together, you will want to be
sure of that person.
It comes naturally for a woman to reciprocate love and respect when it is given to her. So as a man you
must know the value of love, exercise it and be with someone with whom you love while as a woman
you must use the lens of God’s word to validate a man who you want as a life partner.
Are there still good men and women out there?
This is what we often ask, and I think the right question should be “are you a good man or woman”. If the answer we have is yes then, of course, there are still good men and women out there. There will always be people that didn’t treat us right. Nonetheless, we will not have known the value of the good people we have now or will have in the future if we hadn’t those in the past.
How do Christians Celebrate valentines
There is no extraordinary way Christians celebrate or should celebrate Valentine’s day. Go with just any way that suits your taste; it could be an outdoor date, a home party or a simple walk along the path. As long as the things we say and the places we go do not make us compromise on our Christian values; we are right on track.
In addition, it is beautiful to get a gift for your partner, no matter how small. Considering that love is sacrifice, this will mean a lot too! Regardless, the greatest gift you could ever give and receive is love.
